Dental Fillings

Dr. Lee will probably recommend a dental filling if you have dental decay. To receive a dental filling procedure first, your dentist will clean out the decay on your tooth. It is essential to remove all the decay because it will continue to spread if we leave it on the tooth. Once we remove the decay, Dr. Lee will place a composite resin in the hole, similar to an acrylic resin. This resin is tooth-colored, so no one will notice that you have a dental filling.

Dental Bonding

Like dental fillings, dental bonding uses the same material, except we use it to reform the outside of a broken tooth rather than restoring the eating surface of a tooth. Again, this uses a tooth-colored filling, making the dental bonding almost impossible to spot.

Dental Crowns and Bridges

If you have a large tooth break, a significant amount of dental decay, or missing one or more teeth, Dr. Lee may recommend a dental crown or bridge. We use a dental crown to replace the top eating surface of the tooth. The crown acts as a cap that sits on the top of the tooth. To place the crown, Dr. Lee will take off the outside layer of the tooth and bond it to the top of the tooth. A dental bridge looks like multiple dental crowns are attached. A dental bridge can replace one or more missing teeth by connecting to the adjacent teeth. Unlike dental implants, dental bridges only replace the eating surface of the tooth rather than the entire tooth structure.

Inlays and Onlays

If you have a small part of the eating surface that we need to restore, but it is too large of an area for a dental filling, Dr. Lee may recommend Inlays and Onlays instead of a dental crown. An inlay and onlay is a smaller restoration option that only replaces the eating surface’s top of the tooth.

Dental Implants

We use dental implants to replace one or more teeth. As mentioned above, dental implants replace the entire tooth structure from the root to the crown. A dental implant has three main parts: a post, an abutment, and an attachment. The post is made from titanium, acts as the tooth’s root, and sits in the gums. The next part is the abutment which attaches the post to the attachment. Lastly is the attachment. There are a few different options to choose from, depending on your situation. If you miss one tooth, you can replace it with a dental crown. If you miss multiple teeth in a row, you may opt for a dental bridge. Finally, if you are missing an entire set of teeth, you can choose a set of dentures supported by multiple posts.
