What are Dental Veneers?

Dental veneers are created using a thin material shaped to cover your teeth like a shell. If you have teeth that are stained, cracked, crooked, decaying, or gaps, this shell for your teeth is an excellent cosmetic fix for any insecurities you may have. Dental veneers can utilize many different materials, but two of the most common ones used for veneers are porcelain or composite resin.

Dental Veneer Process

This irreversible cosmetic procedure requires grinding the tooth down to the enamel. Once we prepare the tooth or teeth, Dr. Joo Hyun Lee will make a mold of your teeth. This mold will then create an accurate replica of your teeth from composite resin or porcelain material that will become your veneers.

Depending on the kind of dental veneer suggested, we might have to remove a small portion of the tooth’s surface enamel to make room for the restoration. For many patients, there are low-prep veneer options available that call for little to no enamel removal. After we have cleaned and prepared your teeth, we take digital scans and start the smile design procedure.

After this, we will send the scans and molds to make the veneers. Once we get them, you will return to the office to fit them into your teeth.

Types of Veneers

Porcelain: Porcelain veneers are more substantial and last longer with proper oral hygiene care. This veneer material will last up to fifteen years with the appropriate care necessary. Porcelain looks like regular teeth and is less likely to stain throughout the years.

Composite Resin: Composite Resin requires only one visit to the dentist’s office when getting applied. These types of veneers tend to last for 5-7 years. If resin veneers happen to chip, they are a fortunate easy fix!

Who Qualifies for Dental Veneers?

You will likely qualify for dental veneers if you have healthy gums and bone structure. As a cosmetic-based procedure, anyone who feels insecure with their smile can be eligible.

Why Should You Get Dental Veneers?

Ask yourself some questions before jumping on the chance of dental veneers. Are your teeth discolored beyond being able to use whitening products? Are your teeth chipped, cracked, or even misshapen? Are your teeth slightly crooked, and do you find it challenging to be fully confident in your smile? If you answered yes to any of these questions, then Dental Veneers could be for you. Dental veneers can fix all these common insecurities with a single procedure! If you choose not to get veneers, these fixes could take multiple procedures instead.
